Maestro de la Vega will present an illustrated lecture on his music April 19, 2006, at the Institute for Cuban and Cuban-American Studies of the University of Miami, Florida. The title of the lecture is "A Long Musical Journey." It will take place at 7 p.m. in the Saladrigas Hall of Casa Bacardi, 1531 Brescia Avenue, Coral Gables. For reservations, phone (305) 284-2822.

"Encuentro" Review--the most prestigious publication in the world regarding Cuban culture inside and outside Cuba and "tangential issues," which is published in Madrid four times a year will devote 50 pages of their spring 2003 issue to an "Homage to Aurelio de la Vega."

Some of the contributors (painters, essayists, novelists, poets, etc.), writing about Aurelio de la Vega, his life, and his music, are first rate people. Aurelio has seen five of the essays, and they have touched him deeply.

Aurelio de la Vega is planning to go to Caracas in late November for concerts featuring his "Canciones Transparentes" ("Transparent Songs"), for soprano, clarinet, cello, and piano (1995) on poems by José Martí (1852-1895) and his "Variación del Recuerdo" ("Variation of the Remembrance") (1999), for string orchestra.
